Naoto Suzuki as D.D.T. on this 1997 release on the Drop ass Network sub-label Six Sixty Six.Used copy overall in excellent condition, but has a ca. 1cm scratch at the end of B1/beginning of B2 - but only really audible between the tracks. A few tiny dents that are part of the pressing. Great copy.
PRE-SALE of Praxis 60 - Nomex: Paroxism EP. Noise artist and film maker Paul Kidd aka Nomex was behind some iconic experimental releases of the 90s, mainly on his own Adverse label, exploring the physical nature of noise and vinyl, his preferred medium. Several of his records explored and articulated this interaction, such as Adverse 1 (A Moment in Eternity/Language of Dissatisfaction) - a needle playing the label, Desiring E.P.2 (Adverse 3) - a drill used as turntable - and Are You Anything More Than Just A Product of Your Influence? (Adverse 12) - dual parallel groove cut on 16rpm and 78rpm. Other works veer into sound collage and beat destruction, such as The Bruitist Shaper, and Trocante Gramofony E.P. He also experimented with extreme noise frequencies at live gigs, some of which were documented on a series of CDRs on Adverse in 1997 (all of these have now been uploaded to our YouTube channel). Important to mention are also his collaborations with DJ Scud with the two classic 7"s Eurostar/Piling Machine and Total Destruction on the Maschinenbau label, both re-released by Praxis on one 12" in 2018. Ever since his 1999 release Trocante Gramofony EP (Praxis 33), there had been talk about doing a follow up and around 2010-2011 Nomex indeed worked on an album for Praxis, the material for which was finished, but not compiled at the time of his death in 2014. We compiled it as close as possible to what we think his intentions would have been and as to be expected it's a killer noise album! The Plan and the Pledge for the Vinyl The record will be pressed in a limited and numbered edition with a hand stamped label and sleeve as well as a 30x30cm cover graphic/poster inlay and postcard in an edition of 100-150 copies. Finer details of this may yet change/vary as we're figuring out the production cost and details. The image depicts the 30x30cm print insert. Details might slightly vary. A download code for digital tracks will be included. As you may remember we tried to get this project off the ground in 2024 but our fundraising efforts were not successful enough, and pre-sales were extremely poor. The record was pre-mastered but not pressed. We're now giving it another push. The digital album is released in June 2026 with the vinyl to follow soon after. IF THE VINYL IS NOT PRODUCED IN A PHYSICAL FORM BY THE END OF THE YEAR (2026) WE WILL REFUND THE PREORDERS AND ABANDON THE VINYL PROJECT. Help us to get this into production this summer by placing a pre-order or - even better - BECOME A SUPER-SUBSCRIBER! IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are already a SUPER-SUBSCRIBER you will receive one copy of this release as part of your subscription. It's not necessary to place an order, unless you want extra copies! Seek new levels of reality… Walking down a steep and partially crumbled staircase towards a lowceilinged concrete basement. With every step downwards the artificial fog gets more and more dense, while the sound, which started as a muffled noise, gets clearer and louder. The room, unknown in size, is only lit by strobe light and bears empty, beside some occasional schemes emerging and remerging from the fog. All alone in the white and flashing nothingness, I start dancing. The beat is relentless, fast and precise – hacking into my brain, channelling my thoughts and drawing my mind away - step by step, until I dissolve in music and light and space, leaving this level of reality and my ego behind… When I came across of ‘the psychedelic experience’ – a manual about substance induced meditation and the associated transcendental experience written by Timothy Leary, Ralph Metzner and Richard Alpert and based on the Tibetan book of the dead – the description of the psychedelic journey immediately reminded me of this exact feeling when submerging in that amalgam of music, fog and strobe and the meditative freedom I always felt in this surrounding. The process of drifting away, leaving our worldly struggles and eventually our whole ego behind until fully submerged in the void – a void which is not nothingness but pure existence, and from which we can reach out to wherever we want. I truly believe that this experience of raving, this immersion into music can be considered as an equally cathartic process as meditation and that it aids us to maintain sanity in this fast evolving and ever-changing world, we are living in. Music is our key to other levels of reality; music is a mantra for our psyche and our body (soma) - our psycho|soMA|NTRA flrmkltr, October 15th 2023
