Downtempo Beats
Recorded in 1996 and released in 1999 as a double 10" on Praxis this shows Somatic Responses and Christoph Fringeli team up with some serious industrial broken beats and a 180BPM hardcore track. A couple of copies have shown up from deep in the label archives. Records are unfortunately a bit worn with some hairlines and surface marks, also sleeves a bit worn around the edges and lightly bent corners. Not sure what happened there. No serious damage (seam splits etc) though.
The brooding cycles of Christoph De Babalon's work have never readily leant themselves to the customs of genre and function. And the shadowy mechanics of his breakbeat turbulence altogether contradict the promise that rhythm's accents resolutely sustain. Rather than winding us in along its patterned coil, setting us down in a spiral motion with the bait-and-switch of a drop, his version of hardcore is pure fight-or-flight response. Its hardest edge is its sober presentation of distress in the familiar, the totalising anguish of perceiving a threat in everything you always welcomed. This is swing as recoil. Christoph De Babalon's discography reads like a program for decoding the physiological darkside to the inhuman speed-test that hardcore first found the keys for. Set against the aching bellow of an orchestral, and almost floral, sensibility for windswept duration and exacting drone-tactics, there's no sleep for the raver and no mantle for the chin-stroker. 'Grim Zenith' cuts a sharp figure in Christoph De Babalon's oeuvre. With a menacing propulsion, there's a certain pace across his new EP that keeps the cryptic, rapid-fire detail in a fractal constellation of fallout. High definition despair arcs through high-tensile ambient passages, and swarming synthetic platforms gather around the agitated strings that close each side of the record. Released in a numbered edition of 300 copies, this fifth record from V I S is a crucial dose from one of the most unrelenting practices to have been founded in the rarely shared vessel between experimental music and hardcore. Features System UCS, Christoph de Babalon, Peter Edwards, Eric Random, New Acephale, The Narrator. used copy in VG condition. Some surface marks and light scratches - not the best, but a still a fine playing copy and a great record we haven't had in stock since 2012 (!)

The Pandemic Wargames Remixes are based on backing tracks originally recorded in 1995 for a follow up to the album Gyatso which eventually materialised earlier in 2020 in the form of the Phantom Limb LP on Trost. After that Alex Buess once more gave three tracks a severe treatment for The Pandemic Wargames Remixes 12″ on Praxis, bringing sound and mix firmly into the 2020s.

Great 5x12" box set by Scorn from 1995. A remix project featuring Meat Beat Manifesto, Coil, Bill Laswell, Autechre and more.Complete release, mostly VG+ if not NM, but the side J has a couple of small scratches which are lightly audible for a short time. Plays perfectly. The packaging: The box is broken at the corners with a small piece of the side missing on one corner. The front is fine. inner box is fine. All original inner sleeves are fine, but with some fingerprints (they are printed in the type of thick black where fingerprints are left easily). great copy but not perfect, which is reflected in the price.

Biochip C. under a only once-used pseudonym on his Anodyne label from 1996. Original pressing. Used copy with some significant signs. One pretty terrible looking scratch on B1, but plays through fine with some pops. Otherwise VG. Fine playing copy.
Atlas Kopko was initiated by Markus Jud in 1987 and was at the beginning more of a musical project than a band, a descendant of the group Ix-Ex-Splue with their hypnotic improvisations and meditative noise orgies to experimental industrial/noise rock. This description also fits the current production of Atlas Kopko. Atlas Kopko is a follow-up band to Ix-Ex-Splue, but with an expanded musical vocabulary that additionally includes a strong tendency towards cinematic music. The creative element of improvisation also takes a more subordinated role in Atlas Kopko's new album and, since the recordings made in 1994 were very carefully done, brought the possibility of transferring these over 29 year old recordings into the present time through current mixing and production techniques. Atlas Kopko consists in this production of musicians , who were at that time all involved in the Basel experimental music scene and some still are today .
