Orphx: The Living Tissue
Orphx: The Living Tissue

The Living Tissue was originally released in 2001 on the Hands Productions label as a CD and double vinyl (in a numbered edition of 300). The album was the result of an audio/visual research project funded by the Canada Council for the Arts. Hands also released an accompanying 60 minute video on VHS tape. Like the Surface (2000) and Other Voices (2001) 12"s, this album was inspired by the Canadian school of acoustic ecology, which studies the relationship between living things and their environment through sound. All sounds were created from location recordings in and around the city of Hamilton, Ontario.Used copy in excellent condition.

Noisezone: Kaivalya

"Noisezone" is a avantgarde jazz project that came to life in Basel, Switzerland. Trio of musicans: Sebastian Smolyn, harnessing a storm of sounds coming from his E-Trombone, his brother Artur, generating vast range of convulsive, electronic noise attacks and Daniel Buess, empowering both with thrilling rythms of his percussion. Those 3 personalities come together within eXplosive improvisation. Searching musical language of their own, they continue to penetrate broad areas of music itself with each performance bringing them closer to its boundaries. As the performance becomes a musical exploration ritual, everyone who dares joining it will be entirely exposed to its physical and spiritual radiation remaining in your body and soul even long afterwards. PxfxFn5 vs. OXBOW 12"
PxfxFn5 vs. OXBOW 12"

After two extensive tours through Europe and 4 Albums finally released in Europe by the end of the 90s, Oxbow, and their German label Crippled Dick Hot Wax, discussed thoughts on extending the audience for the indie noise rock giants and do something largely popular in the pop world that seemed vastly unusual, however, for a band in the alternative music world: a remix album. Those plans were even publicly stated on Singer Eugene Robinson's own TV show on German Viva TV, yet never realised. But Oxbow had already done a first step to actually make it happen. They handed their long time European sound engineer Manuel Liebeskind and producer and former label mate Alex Buess (with 16-17 on Kevin Martin's pathological label) the full Steve Albini recorded multitracks of their album Serenade in Red. Instead of just remixing an existing song, Liebeskind and Buess, now under the name of PxfXFn5, composed 2 completely new tracks. Using loops and sounds from the original Oxbow recordings, and samples from live recorded cassette tapes, they created something that still is Oxbow - and not. 2 Tracks that transport the heavy blues and noise inspired unique sound of Oxbow into electronic soundscapes and beats. They open a totally different approach to Oxbow music, and to what remix, or re-composition, could mean. In 2024 these tracks have been revisited and remastered by Alex Buess who brought the tracks to the life they deserve. While Oxbow singer Eugene S. Robinson can also be heard with Buess on 16-17's last studio album Phantom limb (Trost records, TR193), he now also is half of electronic Duo Mangene with Manuel Liebeskind, that has recently released their first album '101 Atomic Terms and what they Mean' on fellow label A tree in a Field Records. Oxbow are Eugene S. The Mountaineers with Stephan Wittwer Live at Reithalle Bern June 1998
The Mountaineers with Stephan Wittwer Live at Reithalle Bern June 1998

“The Mountaineers” is a short term project that was founded in 1998 by 3 musicians playing together in various other projects, such as Sprawl, Werther/Wittwer, 16-17. This music comes from a very rare live performance in the Reithalle Bern. This 8:52 minutes piece is the only existing document of the explosive formation, in which the guitarist and electronic musician Stephan Wittwer, who sadly died recently, also played. Stephan was very fond of this project and always wanted to revive it, but unfortunately it never happened. We have decided to release this recording as number 000 of our live series in memory of Stephan. The Mountaineers are Stephan Wittwer, Guitars and Electronics Alex Buess, Reeds, CD-Scratch & Electronic Devices Michael Wertmüller, Drums credits released March 14, 2025 Recorded live at Reithalle Bern in June 1998 by Roger Graf Live Mix by Christoph Ali Remastered by Alex Buess

P/O Massacre + Alex Buess & Merzbow: Aural Corrosion
P/O Massacre + Alex Buess & Merzbow: Aural Corrosion

2 years after their debut album on Utech Records, P/O MASSACRE goes deeper in their immersive noise experimentation in this collaboration album with Alex Buess, and Merzbow (Masami Akita 秋田昌美). An architecture of distortion, Moog processors, spring reverb, drone effects and more, then developed in different directions by two electronic/noise veterans. It’s a journey of pure sensation, destruction, and rebirth. A skull-vibrating sound decomposition to your face. For this very reason of searching the limit of frequency and sound structure, we’ve decided to make this album as double 45 rpm vinyl, for a maximum aural experience, cut for vinyl by Frédéric Alstadt at Mont Analogue Masters. As he says: “it’s the cut of the uncuttable”. The visual design and layout are taken care of by the Taiwanese noise builder Chia-Chun Xu (Karma Detonation Tapes), with the artwork from the film destroying artist Tseng Peng-Chieh. Heavy gatefold sleeve, with obi and a bonus CD which includes an exclusive track “Nonslaught” from the same recording session by P/O MASSACRE only. Double album available in two versions: Black vinyl and a colour vinyl edition with one record in marbled green and one in marbled rusty vinyl.

Membranes: Wilderness of Statics
Membranes: Wilderness of Statics

" Membranes is a ghost record by Benjamin Brejon & Jonathan Uliel Saldanha, which is an unfinished non-record. We started it in 2007. And finished it a million times. But never really. I found these mixes in a forgotten cloud and the cassette label "specific interest"decided to release them as they are. But it's just one version and one format. The principle of the dub is the spirit and the replicas. The spirit of a spirit. Substitutions. Not an original master.Remixes of a lost source. Like translating a non-native language into another language, passing things on to others; This vinyl release is a Polaroid image of a zone of sound, rhythms, lyrics, dynamics of an unquantifiable or particular moment in history. It could have been recorded yesterday or tomorrow. Or not recorded at all. This mix has emerged from the abyss." (Benjamin Brejon) The S|S vinyl master once again sheds new light on the sound of some of the mixes previously released on cassette. Méchanosphère: s/t
Méchanosphère: s/t

Mécanosphère (Portugal / France /...) Mécanosphère is a transnational morphing line-up art & life project formed by Benjamin Brejon (drums / instrument circuit / lyrics) and Adolfo Luxúria Canibal (vocals / lyrics) at the turn of the year 00's. Mécanosphère's language is: dubbed sonic, cinematic soundscapes with a polyglot text. Informed by Radio broadcasts, science-fiction literature, war reports, ruins of hiphop, ghosts of jazz, echoes of sound poetry, collage art, rock and roll, and parallel noise. The 2003 self-titled debut album is a straightforward rough, low fi rhythms-bass-voice manifesto. Mécanosphère acts like the seminal installation of the group’s obsessive, recurrent, set of sound and images which the other records explore more carefully by facets. For the 20th anniversary of their inception, which is the first part of a tryptich, Skin And Speech decided to release the first vinyl version of this undiscovered gem. 180 grams heavy and re-mastered by Alex Buess. The vinyl contains 7 tracks. Purchasers of the vinyl also get the whole album digitally as a free download.

Felix Raeithel: Dance With Uncertainty
Felix Raeithel: Dance With Uncertainty

The concept of Dance With Uncertainty is deeply rooted in philosophical, artistic, and cultural traditions. The notion of embracing uncertainty and change has been explored in various forms throughout history, often symbolizing the human experience and the impermanence of life. In the context of music and sound, Dance With Uncertainty could be seen as a reflection of the constant ebb and flow of life‘s uncertainties, captured and conveyed through sonic textures and evolving compositions. Buchla Bongos emerge as a captivating sonic artifact within the realm of electro-acoustic compositions, modern classical arrangements, and disco anthems. These intricate electronic percussive circuit, using a lowpass gate, crafted by the visionary Don Buchla, lend a unique and experimental edge to diverse musical landscapes. Transistor Mallets weave a aural mosaic that seamlessly spans future jazz, sequential music and disco euphoria. Generated by hitting resonanting filters with milliseconds of voltage snaps these electronically reverbing mallet instruments reimagine the boundaries of sound, allowing classical tones to coalesce with futuristic elements. Interlocked Rhythm Sample & Hold Music This approach to sound creation weaves a mesmerizing tapestry of rhythm, texture, and sonic exploration, captivating listeners and defying traditional musical boundaries. At its core, Interlocked Rhythm Sample & Hold Music is a synthesis of technology, creativity, and a deep understanding of rhythmic intricacies. The foundation lies in the Sample & Hold circuit, a device that captures and freezes incoming voltages, creating distinct musical snapshots that evolve over time or an Linear Feedback Shift Register (eg. Rungler), a circuit used in electronic music synthesis and sound manipulation to create unique and evolving musical textures. The Rungler was created by Rob Hordijk. A more sofisticated useage of a 8 bit shift register and by combining this with a typical sequencer design is the Klee Seqeuncer developed by Scott Stites. A cheap version of this design is the Turing Machine. Another tool is the Analog Shift Register. In the context of creating arabesque melodies, an analog shift register (invended by Fukushi Kawakami and later adapted by Serge Tcherepnin) can be a fascinating tool to generate intricate and ornamented musical patterns. Yet, it‘s the interlocking of these snapshots that sets this genre apart, infusing the compositions with an intricate dance of patterns and pulses. A fourth device is a pendulum or random addressed sequencer, that in the first case moves in a drunken unpredictical maner. Each of these device for uncertainty becomes a rhythmic sculptor, freezing the dynamic interplay of melodies, beats, and textures. These frozen moments are then interwoven, each snapshot forming a unique thread in a sound tableau that stretches and contracts, pulses and breathes. The result is an auditory experience that challenges preconceptions of rhythm and structure. The interlocked rhythms give rise to complex grooves that ebb and flow in unpredictable ways, evoking a sense of perpetual motion and transformation. The music becomes a living organism, its heartbeats synchronized yet untamed, its evolution both deliberate and free-spirited. The juxtaposition of staccato bursts and fluid flows, of machine-like precision and organic unpredictability. As listeners delve into the world of Interlocked Rhythmic Sample & Hold Music, they embark on a sonic odyssey. The music becomes a companion, guiding them through a labyrinth of rhythmic landscapes that simultaneously challenge and invites to the dance with uncertainty. Felix K. 16-17: Gyatso
16-17: Gyatso

In stock now: Classic 16-17 studio album produced by Kevin Martin in 1994 for first time on vinyl ! Gyatso originally appeared on Kevin Martin's Pathological label in 1994 as a CD and was rereleased, again on CD, in 2008 by Savageland. Praxis, in collaboration with Skin & Speech proudly presents the first vinyl edition of this classic album. The vinyl edition contains 6 tracks and includes the download for the full 13 track album. 16-17 started in 1983 in Basel, Switzerland. They released a number of cassettes, before debuting with their self titled and self released album in 1987. Two years later this was followed up by When All Else Fails, an LP of treated live recordings on Vision, the precursor label to Praxis. By this time 16-17 had already garnered a cult following with their incredibly forceful live performances. Gyatso is a crucial release where the raw power of 16-17’s live appearances clashes with a studio-as-instrument approach, as Kevin Martin and Alex Buess add effects and dub techniques to the band’s recordings. Further collaborations between Martin and Buess include the ICE project which also included Justin Broadrick aka J.K.Flesh of Godflesh, the other half of Techno Animal, as well as Human Distortion, released on Digital Hardcore Recordings in 1998. Buess also took part of the Sprawl project with Peter Brötzmann, William Parker, Michael Wertmüller and Stephan Wittwer which appeared on Trost Records in 1997. This vinyl release of Gyatso comes hot on the heels of two important records that came out in 2020: The album Phantom Limb on Trost, based on band recordings from 1995 and finished in the studio in 2019 by Alex Buess, and most recently the 12” The Pandemic Wargames Remixes on Praxis. The latter was a continuation of collaborations dating back to the pre-Praxis days of the Vision label, continuing with the 1999 release of Mechanophobia on Praxis as well as the more recent Vacuum Theory by Cortex and “Skin Craft” by Alex Buess and Daniel Buess. Praxis is very happy to present this release in collaboration with Skin & Speech, for the first time on vinyl and download!

Limited re-press - OUT NOW!. 50 copies are available for general distribution, the other 50 are reserved for the Praxis online shop and bandcamp.Originally released in 1999 in an edition of 500 copies on transparent white vinyl as Praxis 33, Trocante Gramofony E.P. by Nomex is re-pressed in a limited edition of 100 copies on black vinyl from the original plates.Trocante Gramofony opens with the monumental ‘Fire Is The Centre’, followed by two other Nomex masterpieces, ‘Life Destroy’ and ‘No-Step 2000’, as well as three speaker-destroying fragments and locked grooves. It was a departure from Nomex’s releases on his own Adverse label and was naturally quite different from the DJ Scud collaborations on Maschinenbau. In relation to his other solo work, Trocante Gramofony is perhaps less conceptual and more composed.‘Fire Is The Centre’ features vocal snippets recorded at a Dead By Dawn party sometime between 1994-1996. Some of these snippets had been used on the Dead By Dawn record by Shitness & The Jackal, but here they were embedded in a surging wall of noise spread over the first side of the record, complete with crackles, shrieks and ever mounting intensity. The second side opens with ‘Life Destroy’ an intense collage of voice, noise and music and ends with ‘No-Step 2000’.Tracks don’t end in orderly fashion, instead the needle jumps out of the groove or is locked in a loop. The flow gets interrupted in the middle of the side of the record. These elements are again vinyl specific and can’t easily be transported to the digital realm, and this is one reason we decided to make this brilliant record available again in its ideal format, the vinyl 12”.

Years of Denial: Blood Debts
Years of Denial: Blood Debts

BACK IN STOCK!Blood Debts' is the compulsive debut album from Years Of Denial, the alter-face of London-based French musician/producer and DJ, Jerome Tcherneyan. Though his formulative Marseille youth was spent exploring the darkest corners of post-punk, New Wave, not to mention Public Enemy and the inspirational Mille Plateaux and Basic Channel labels, Tcherneyan, already an extremely capable drummer, quickly extended his sonic palate toward and beyond the bass-heavy electronic isolationism, insistent beats and drone experimentation that's still very much prevalent in his work today. One should not either pass over his integral contribution to the much-lauded, though stolidly underground "ghost-rock" unit, Piano Magic, which engineered sublime collaborations with Brendan Perry (Dead Can Dance), Simon Raymonde (Cocteau Twins/This Mortal Coil) and Alan Sparhawk (Low). Tcherneyan, always prolific, can also lay claim to impressive collusions with Bonjo Iyabinghi Noah (African Head Charge), Damo Suzuki (Can), 70's psych folk legend, Mark Fry to name but a few. In 2005, Jerome founded and promoted the infamous 'Flesh' parties; guests including Andy Stott /Claro Intelecto/Edit-Select/James Ruskin/Kirk Degiorgio/Mark Broom/Oliver Ho/Sigha/Steve Bicknell and many more. These nights served as an invaluable education in Techno and Dubmixology; marathon sets played deep into the sunrise. Skip forward a decade and the DJ bug is even deeper embedded, with Tcherneyan sharing the booth with, amongst many others, Orphx/Phase Fatale/Joefarr and London Modular Alliance. Tcherneyan's muse and foil on 'Blood Debts,' his first for Oliver Ho's splendid and already essential new Death & Leisure imprint, is Maya Petrovna, an entrancing London-based vocalist, film composer and performance/physical theatre artist, whose voice perfectly evokes Billie Holliday, Diamanda Galas and all stations between. There's a black neon heart at the centre of 'Blood Debts,' a fetishtic ritual of contorted flesh and altered states; a feverish, infectious paradox of primitivism and modernity. Years of Denial is the ghost in the machine. 1. KK Null, Dot Product: 404 Not Found EP

BACK IN STOCK! Presents its sixth vinyl release with an interesting collaboration between a contemporary project such as Dot Product, the tandem formed by Adam Winchester and Christopher Jarman, and the Japanese legend of experimental rock and noise Kazuyuki Kishino. Known as KK Null, this artist had a first stage as a guitarist in several bands, it is worth remembering that at that time he collaborated with Merzbow in several albums and that years later he changed the guitar for electronic devices. 404 Not Found opens side A with a first cut by the English duo. Error Message combines grainy, strummed textures with a humanized sonic profile in which a beautiful melody makes its way in the face of bleak adversity. The second cut of this side is by KK Null, in this track the Japanese artist shows a high dose of metallic sounds that travel at the free will of the author to end up yielding in front of a complex and disorderly structured rhythm. Unlike side A, side B of this EP shows a work created jointly by Dot Product and KK Null. Pause Frames is an industrial cut, with hard percussion and numerous sound patterns such as pads, strong resonances and highly saturated components. 10-4-10-409-Conflict is the fourth and final track on the release, again employing a hard-hitting rhythm with a series of crunchy textures and a harmonic conjugation of dissonant chords. 404 Not Found (JEZGRO006) by KK Null / Dot Product
