Excellent compilation from YB-70 to celebrate the 12th anniversary of the Parazit/Seppuku parties... with some of the regulars like 10 Onnance , Somatic Responses, La Peste, Element Abuse, Matt Fraktion, Iszoloscope, Sobchak, Ingler, Subskan, Zotz, Elektroplasma, Ripit, Kirdek , Imminent..... We've had the 2x12" in our shop for a long time, but for some reason not the CD. Here it is!

In the course of the last few months a substantial section of the work released by Peter Votava under different names in the 1990's, before his releases on Mego, Staalplaat and d0c, has been made available again on CD, most notably the retro compilation of classic ironic rave act Ilsa Gold (with Christopher Just, on Mego) and the deep electro-techno soundscapes of Current 909 (on d0c/Atmosfear). A completely different aspect is presented by this double CD compilation of his hardcore material, released as Pure (or DJ Pure, Information:Overload, Violent Shit, PL and Slab), now available from Praxis as a double CD (Praxis 26CD). Collecting the material previously issued by Praxis itself, Loop, Drop Bass Network, as well as compilation tracks from Tigerbeat6, Biomechanic and a support compilation for the EKH, Vienna's only squat named after Ernst Kirchweger, a communist murdered by the Nazis, all from between 1994-2001. Almost like a history of hardcore of the'90s from dark acid to harsh noise. Not only was most of the material released on limited edition vinyl, and now unavailable, all the hits, collaborations and rarities are here, including previously unreleased tracks: CD1 starting off with the deceptively titled CD-ROM section (not for easy listening) - it's the audio track of a data CD - but soon delving into the hammering beats of Information:Overload, shifting into the satanic abyss of “Anoint me with the Black Sperm of Beleth" by Slab, before exercising “Analogue Terror" from the Drop Bass Network EP of the same title, already showing the variety of approaches even within the industrial hardcore realm. This is further illustrated by the various collaborations with other activists and hardcore experimenters of the time. Not only is the near-legendary “Violent Shit" EP featured, there are three more, previously unreleased tracks from this collaboration with Ec8or (at the time a Patric C. solo project), as well as the devastating “Killer Bees on Acid" produced with the late Liza N'Eliaz. CD2 opens with another cult item: “Speeed" by Pure vs. GTI, originally released as a one-sided limited 12" on Loop, before continuing the journey in carefully chosen order through material defying the borders of “industrial" and “hardcore". The bulk of the material was recorded and released between 1994 and 1999 - it appears that Pure decided after his massive “King Kong/Katharsis" on Praxis that he had said what he needed to say in this musical format. This double CD (on which “King Kong" is featured in its full 15 minute glory) is testimony to the insistence, depth and violence as well as the heterogenity of his artistic vision.

After only three excessive years, in 1996 Peter (aka DJ Pure) and Christopher Just decided to go their musical separate ways. Since then Christopher Just has ironized electronic dance music in the guise of Punk Anderson, Disco Dancer, and House Motherfucker, while DJ Pure has devoted his efforts to experimental electronica, for Mego among others. Now in 2003 the influential oeuvre of Ilsa Gold is being celebrated in due and fitting extravagance. On a double CD, "Regretten? Neutral: Motion of since her entry into this crazy world in 1974, neutral’s nicole elmer has seen the bulk of human existence in an intense light. anyone familiar with her well-received 1999 debut as neutral, font translation errors, knows this straightaway-as will those who subsequently came across her compilation appearances for component and n5md, or her successful 7-inch on mike “µ-ziq” paradinas’ planet-µ imprint as well as the driving backwards ep for mad monkey/hymen in 2001. but as her new neutral album, motion of, suggests, that intensity is more than just ferocious post-industrial angst and gale-force lyrics. there’s a subtlety to nicole’s creative vision that is just now manifesting itself in her music. “this record became more about simplicity. i don’t think in the end that it sounds very simple, but compared to font translation errors, it is,” says nicole of her new album, which in comparison to her releases over the last three years takes on a strikingly visual, almost cinematic quality throughout its ten tracks. and rightly so. nicole has returned to painting as a means of rendering her vision, and like her painting, motion of is bold, fleshy abstract lines of vibrant color bleeding into sound shadows, where the dark demons on malevolent creativity thrive in the at-times stark contrast. where her media includes everything from canvas to cardboard box tops to massive spans of plywood, nicole’s stylistic range on motion of veers to the suppleness of ambient piano and those classic lush synths on “…” and “desire of,” as well as the scorn-like industrial down tempo grit groove of “180.” likewise, nicole’s experiences traveling through europe have morphed her views on creative methods as well-streamlined the process by removing more of the software artifice. it’s not hard to see how her increased use of traditional instruments is tied, however tenuously, to her having spent a summer in the czech republic-the quaint guitar riffs and accented bass strumming on the moody “4 minutes” as harkening to her enjoyment of local street performers in prague and other places. that like her picturesque walk along the cinque terre this last summer, the twangy “bird in the air” balances between the lush, organic wildlife of guitar, flute, and wispy vocals...and the craggy, angular electro cliffs of rigid downtempo loops and gentle swells of dsp noise crashing far below. “i was challenged by the idea of including vocals, something that had always daunted me quite a bit in the past,” she notes. “i was enamored of trying it out because contemporary electronic music composers tended to shy away from using their own voices in their works. but a lot of my idols from the 80’s and early 90’s had used their voices or were part of a band and had a vocalist, as opposed to using a menagerie of guest vocalists. putting my voice into the mix was a real different but in some ways, nostalgic thing to do.” hymen considers motion of to be a very important step in nicole’s evolution, and thus established a collaboration with texas-based mad monkey records in an effort to make nicole’s intense amalgam of industrial passion, classic electronic sounds, and anti-folk emotional rawness more readily accessible to her growing worldwide fan base. nicole’s creative vision has reached a new plateau on motion of.

Extreme noise CD from Sonic Belligeranza!

on this cd, synapscape's astonishing rhythm skills are perfectly displayed. keeping the beat straight but always changing the patterns throughout a track. when a track starts you might think you know how it will proceed, but while listening you will end up being surprised. there is a permanent change - without any real interference. the album could also be described as an 'attack on expectations' - sequencers and electronic percussion replace the expected bass drum; in a heavily distorted 4/4 track a techno-like 5th-chord is embedded; crystal clear drum strokes replace distorted beats; - those 'attacks' are the sparks of the burning flow. the variety of sound is evident in the ambient tracks like 'kollberg' and 'sellout', the hard 4/4-beat-ers like 'the hoe' and 'katunga' (which lean heavily toward the distorted dance floor) and the live-killer-tracks ('wings' and 'alice') which may be well-known to synapscape addicts. but act!'s general mood is what makes this cd a real album and not just a compilation of new tracks. this album is nothing less than an improvement and a logical progression of synapscape's conceptual work. the act! is done.

ultra dark dronings and complex harsh rhythms for a utopia of the scientific process, not without a touch of humour. this enterprise requires the refusal of compromise. furthermore, some references to scientific research, especially in the nuclear domain, clearly appear in the silk saw recordings wich stigmatise, non without a touch of humour, the utopia of the scientific process and the inherent dangers in it.
