Who we are:
Praxis is a label dedicated to experimental hardcore and radical breaks which was founded in 1992 in London. The first two 12" records came out at the end of that year, the Scaremonger EP and 'Knee-Jerk Reaction' by Bourbonese Qualk. These contributed to and commented on the rising techno and rave scene, coming from a background of experimental post punk and industrial music. Soon the label expanded and explored experimental hardcore, electronic weirdness, breakcore, speedcore and noise.
Since then there has been a steady stream of releases and activities, which we continue today and into the future from our base in Berlin. We have many many plans for this year, for releases as well as live events, as well as for publishing activities that go well beyond those of a 'record label'.
This shop is the primary outlet for traditional-format releases by the label, its associates and the wider network we are involved with as well as other items and productions of experimental electronic music and radical literature. This includes many exclusive titles and limited editions.
To find out more about the label's history, check out the 10th episode of The Molehill Report on our YouTube channel 'Noise & Politics' (click on the image below)
If you are a reseller (record store, book shop, online store, distributor etc.) please open a company account. We will then activate your B2B merchant account.

Starting the year out with a bit of hybrid action, LoDubs is pleased to announce the return of Bombaman of Toronto, Canada to the fold. As with his first release on the "Special Request" imprint a little over a year ago, (LoDubs-SR-1, Solvent "Think Like Us" 12") the styles touched upon are instantly relevant, yet a combination not yet seen within the construct of our sound. Taking its source material from a well known Synth/Disco/House Production/DJ Duo based in the same city as Bombaman, "Material" opens up the 12" with a mighty, shuffling piece of genius, which true to the sound is towed forward by a monstrous, oozing bassline. However, the backing rhythm and its stilted shuffling cacophany of drums may remind many of something more in the backyard of DJ Assault crossed with Herbert on a caffeinated day, rather than the 4 beat dubstep sound du jour. Purely out of its perfection as a pair, we have place yet another Syntonics remix on the Flip. "Rock Tonight" follows a more open drum signature, which allows for a high/low frequency interplay that when properly amplified almost seems to make the air wiggle in front of your face, like a hot day in arizona. Strangely enough, if you want to get much of the bass music coming out of Venezuela, you have to go to Japan, and the primary source once there would be Murder Channel, a long running club night, which has played host to artists as diverse as Melt Banana to Goth Trad, and also a label, based in Tokyo. Amongst the releases featuring Venezuelan artists, like the Cardopusher full length “Unity means power” came the Pacheko/DJ 100mado collab CD, which was released near the end of 2009. LoDubs, having a long running relationship with both the VZ and JP cultures, has taken up the charge to spread a bit of this material in the other hemisphere. “Figure 8” is the quintessential builder, with percussion quite stiff and pronounced, and bass weight to challenge any soundsystem, but the melody and rhythm married to these elements is remarkably light, full of interplay, and one could even say elegant, in a way all its own. “Trance 8” while not a complete departure, does give one an idea of where the anthemic sound of Dubstep could go in years to come. A almost overwhelming arpeggiated melody, with dry snares that play cadence to the progression, and a throbbing underbelly of sub that lets loose like an invisible wobble beneath it all. As others wanted to have their way with such striking elements, we have included two additional tracks on the CD, one featuring our old friend Cardopusher. Venezuela, by way of Japan, once again shows us their version of the state of the art. 12” Tracklisting: A1.) Pacheko – Figure 8 B1.) Misery and the Value Form 1. Crisis in the Class Relation Taking the capitalist class relation as a self-reproducing whole, the horizon of its overcoming appears as an invariant aspect of this whole, albeit one with a historically variant quality. Surplus population and capital's basic problem of labour characterise core dynamics underlying the shift in this horizon beyond the old programme of workers' power. 2. Misery and Debt A re-reading and historical interpretation of Marx's “general law of accumulation”— the tendency for the expanded reproduction of capital to throw off more labour than it absorbs—in light of the growth of surplus populations and surplus capital in the world today. 3. Notes on the New Housing Question Preliminary materials for a theory of home-ownership, credit, and housework in the post-war US economy. How is the fundamental separation between production and reproduction transformed when the home becomes the commodity through which all others are sold? 4. Communisation and Value-Form Theory The theory of communisation and Marxian value-form theory emerge from the same historical moment, mutually complement each other, and point towards the same radical conception of revolution as the immediate transformation of social relations, one in which we cease to constitute value and it ceases to constitute us. 5. The Moving Contradiction A reconstruction of the systematic dialectic of capital as a dialectic of class struggle. The forms of value which are constituted by and regulate social practice are totalising and self-reproducing through the subsumption of labour under capital. The totality so constituted is inwardly contradictory, and ultimately self-undermining: capitalist accumulation is a moving contradiction, i.e. a historical contradiction, between capital and proletariat. 6. The History of Subsumption The philosophical/logical concept of subsumption is employed in various periodisations of capitalist society, such as those of Théorie Communiste, Jacques Camatte, and Antonio Negri. A critical examination of this concept and its historical uses. 7. Sleep-Worker’s Enquiry Worker's enquiry in the cynical mode: the unrevolutionary working life of the web developer.

CHRISTOPH DE BABALON is known for tripping beats, dark wide spaces and eternal melancholy. He released his first record in 1994 on Hamburg's cult-label Fischkopf. Right after his debut he began working with ALEC EMPIRE's Digital Hardcore Recordings (DHR) where he, besides a couple of other records released his most important work: the legendary album 'If You're Into It, I'm Out Of It'. Also THOM YORKE of Radiohead is a big fan of Christoph de Babalon's music and invited him on a tour through southern europe in 2001. As co-founder of the music label Cross Fade Enter Tainment [CFET] he has been putting out records by influential electronic hardcore producers such as Somatic Responses, DJ Scud, Zbigniew Karkowski and Merzbow (to name but a few) since 1994. In order to learn more effective production techniques and gather new experience, he began working on music for theatre productions, dance performances and film. In June 2008 he hooked up with Radiohead again to play the "Daydream" Festival in Barcelona and introduce ,,Scylla & Charybdis" (released in 2008 on CFET) to the public for the first time. It was a sunny day - but the sky turned dark during Christoph's set.
